The Setbacks feature in the Star Rewards App is designed to manage and record instances where tasks are not completed or when undesirable behavior occurs. This feature helps create a balanced system where children can learn from their mistakes and understand the importance of consistency and responsibility.

How to Record and Manage Setbacks #
Recording a Setback: #
- Access the Setbacks Section:
- Navigate to the “Setbacks” tab from the home screen.
- Add a New Setback:
- Tap the “Add a Setback” button.
- Enter the reason for the setback (e.g., “Missed homework,” “Did not complete chores”).
- Enter the number of stars to deduct.
- Tap “Save” to record the setback.
Managing Existing Setbacks: #
- Viewing Setbacks:
- In the “Setbacks” tab, you can view a list of all setbacks.
- Editing Setbacks:
- Swipe left on the setback you wish to edit.
- Tap the “Edit” icon, make the necessary changes, and tap “Save.”
- Deleting Setbacks:
- Swipe left on the setback you wish to delete.
- Tap the “Delete” icon and confirm the deletion to remove the setback from the list.
Using Setbacks to Encourage Improvement #
Reflecting on Setbacks: #
- Discuss the Setbacks:
- Sit down with your child and discuss the recorded setbacks.
- Talk about why the task was missed or why the negative behavior occurred.
- Identify Solutions:
- Work together to identify solutions and strategies to avoid similar setbacks in the future.
- Set realistic and achievable goals to help your child get back on track.
